I am in in love with where I grew up, maybe obsessively so. Every visit to Western North Carolina sends me spiraling through the throws of nostalgia. Certainly living there is romanticized in my mind, but I don’t necessarily think that’s a bad thing. My husband might say otherwise… ;)
On my last visit home I did a family session with my brother and sister-in-law. We chose the location of Dairy King, an iconic Black Mountain staple affectionately known as "The Blue Cone." Mecca of all things summer, sticky and wonderful. It even has railroad tracks practically running through the backyard. We’re talking quintessential hometown vibes. Not only is it a stellar location, but I got to hang with some of my favorites. Growing up as the only girl of four, Matt was my go to protector and cheerleader. It has been so sweet to see him become this and so much more to his family. He is fire and passion and Kelly is like gentle rain, artsy and free. They are a beautiful compliment and have made some super cute kids too. Here’s to many more family shoots to come. Enjoy!
